Now that we know what ubiquitous commerce is, it’s time we understand exactly how it works. We’re not trying to creep anyone out but this is a cool way for retailers to get to know you, their customer, as more than just a pretty face.

In some stores all you need is a phone and a wifi connection in order for a store to track you and your shopping behaviour. Many retailers use a special software and video cameras that track a shopper while they are in the store. This is where big data hits real life. When a person walks into a store, a video camera will follows and tracks them and show their path with tiny circle shapes. These circles are called data points.
